The Gift of Henna For centuries the art of henna skin painting (also known as Mehndi) Middle Eastern, South Asian and African cultures. Henna is a non-permanent plant based dye that allows us to paint beautiful patterns, designs and symbols safely on the skin. The dye is 100% natural and is not injected, but instead leaving a rich red-brown stain on the skin. Because the designs eventually fade, you can use henna to try different designs as often as you wish. Learn the art of henna and make it a wonderful gift for yourself, your friends and family. In this workshop, you'll learn the history of henna skin art, henna symbolism from various cultures, and you'll learn how professional artists prepare and apply henna to the skin. You'll have an opportunity to try henna painting on paper and on your own skin. If you attend with a partner, you can practice on each other. Anita Seth, a local henna artist with 15 years of experience, will lead the workshop. Donation of $5 to cover workshop materials is requested. www.ethereal-arts.com

with Bruce Scott, Ph.D. "Free the Children" Local author of “Being Real: An Ongoing Decision” and “Free The Children,” Bruce Scott is a de-professionalized psychotherapist, parent, community organizer and photographer. He will discuss and take questions, and answers about being with and seeing children as already whole and complete beings. “Free The Children” is a true story that explores the impact of our beliefs about parenting, and institutionalized schooling and learning on children and the adults who live with them. This is not a how-to book or event. There is no blame. Too often, children become the identified "patients" and are often diagnosed one thing or another. This talk will suggest how we can become the change we want to see in others - especially the children.
